Thiago to miss Newcastle clash

CAIRO-30 December 2020: Liverpool Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara will not be fit for the match against Newcastle United on Wednesday night, according to Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp. 

 

"He has to be part of team training, it's not about training one day with the team and then you can play football in the Premier League again." Klopp said. 

 

Liverpool continue to adopt a cautious approach with the Spaniard, who suffered a knee injury in the Merseyside derby in October and since then he has been out of action. 

 

The Spanish midfielder joined the club last summer from Bayern Munich after winning the historic treble last season with the German giants. 

 

Liverpool are facing Newcastle United and they hope to keep their winning streak alive and further increase the gap from the second placed Manchester United, who are only two points behind the Reds. 

 

"It will be another tough challenge, like all Newcastle games always have been. They have a couple of really good players and we have to be ready for that." Liverpool manager added. 

 

The game starts on 10:00 pm.
