CAIRO-26 December 2020: Mamelodi Sundowns Uruguayan playmaker, Gastón Sirino, commented on Al Ahly’s offer to sign him, saying that he wants to play for the Cairo giants.
“Al Ahly is the biggest club in Africa and everyone wants to wear their jersey. I hope that Mamelodi Sundowns accept the offer.” Sirino said.
The Uruguayan playmaker hopes to be re-united with his manager Pitso Mosimane, who joined Al Ahly last October and led them to win the treble.
Sirino has much experience with African football as he has been playing for the South African giants since 2018 and won three consecutive league titles with the team.
The player has been linked with a move to the Cairo giants since his former manager Mosimane arrived to take charge of Al Ahly.
Sirino is well-known to Al Ahly fans as he put on an excellent performance during Sundowns’ historic 5-0 win over Al Ahly in the 2019 CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
The player was not included in his team’s opening match of this year’s CAF Champions League against Jwaneng Galaxy.
