CAIRO, 7 December 2020: Former squash champion Karim Darwish succeeded in securing the position of vice president of the International Game Federation.
The elections were held in Monaco on Saturday evening, and the position was settled by Darwish, head of the squash sector in Wadi Degla.
Darwish will represent Egypt in the International Federation for the next 4 years after obtaining 80 votes.
Karim Darwish is considered one of the legends of the game in Egypt, and the beginning was by winning the World Junior Championship title in 2000.
Darwish was the second Egyptian player to climb to the top of the game's world rankings, and that was in January 2009.
Darwish topped the game's world rankings for 11 months, with the exception of November.
Karim Darwish qualified for the final of the World Junior Championships once in 2008 in Manchester, but lost the final to Ramy Ashour.
