CAIRO-6 November 2020: Brazilian legend Dani Alves revealed on Friday that the year he spent in Juventus after leaving Barcelona was the worst in his career.

“The year I spent at Juventus was the worst of my career because. I wanted that to be like in Barcelona and it wasn’t.” Alves said.

The Brazilian defender left Barcelona in 2016 after 8 years with the Catalan giants. Alves was phenomenal in Barcelona and he won 23 titles with the club, which made him one of the most successful players in the club’s history.

Alves was highly appreciated by the club fans, with whom he had a wonderful relationship. But it was not the same situation with the board and he was forced to leave his beloved team.

Alves added “All the players who leave Barcelona regret it, one hundred percent. But either you accept it or you become bitter all your life,”

In his first season away from Barcelona, he returned to the Camp Nou but as a visitor when Barcelona hosted his new team, Juventus, in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

The game ended with a goalless draw but a 3-0 win in the first leg in Turn sent Juventus to the semi-finals.

Alves and Juventus reached the competition’s final but lost to Barcelona’s arch-rivals Real Madrid 4-1.
