CAIRO-16 October 2020: Wydad Casablanca manager, Miguel Gamondi believes that his players are able to overcome the domestic league title loss to defeat Al Ahly and reach the CAF Champions League final.
Gamondi added “This is a crucial game. Our target is to go to the final and lift the cup. I thank them for their great efforts despite being exhausted and especially amidst this pandemic.”
Wydad are having tough days after losing the domestic league title in a dramatic way as their arch-rivals, Raja, scored a last-minute goal to win the game against AS FAR Rabat and secure the league title.
“We had a tight schedule in the Moroccan “Botola”, but my players are ready.” The manager said.
Wydad have an amazing record In the CAF Champions League competition as they are unbeaten at home in the last 27 games and they only lost one game at home since 2007. This only loss was in 2016 against Cairo giants Al Ahly.
Gamondi continued “We are looking forward to achieving a good result before the return leg in Cairo.”
The second leg will be on 23 October at Cairo stadium.
