CAIRO-15 October 2020: El Geish striker Amr Gamal stated on Thursday that Al Ahly South African manager Pitso Mosimane wanted to sign him to play for Mamelodi Sundowns.
Gamal spent one year in South Africa, playing for Bidvest Wits and he won the best player in the South African Cup.
"I have played against Mosimane's Sundowns many times and he wanted to sign me for Sundowns but the deal failed to materialize." Gamal said.
Gamal has a chance to play under Mosimane's command as the player plays for El Geish on loan from the Red Devils.
The Egyptian striker praised Mosimane, saying" He is a great coach and his players in South Africa speak highly about him. He has a big influence on the South African football."
Mosimane was appointed as Al Ahly manager on 1 October to succeed Rene Weiler in charge of the first team.
Mosimane had a fantastic start with two wins over Arab Contractors and Enppi and a draw against Pyramids. Al Ahly face Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League semi-finals first leg on Saturday night and they will play the second leg a week later in Cairo.
