Hadary left Wadi Degla to play in Saudi Arabia
CAIRO – 29 June 2017: Al-Taawoun announced Essam El-Hadary signed a year contract with the team competing in the Saudi Arabian Premier Division, Hadary is the first foreign goalkeeper to play in Saudi Arabia.
Hadary played the last 2 years in Wadi Degla and he is ready now to a new chapter in his story with football.
Hadary, 44, played in the biggest three teams in Egypt Al-Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaily, he had two experiences playing abroad with FC Sion in Switzerland and Sudanese team, Al-Merrikh.
Sheih Turki al Sheikh, honorary president of the club, sponsored this move and he will pay the cost of the signing according to Al-Taawoun statement.
Hadary earned 153 matches with the national team, he won the African Cup of Nations 4 times in 1998, 2006, 2008 and 2010.
He is also the oldest player to play in African Cup of Nations final in Gabon 2017.
