CAIRO-19 September 2020: Former Zamalek Swiss manager, Christian Gross, rejected the club’s offer to take charge of the club till the end of the season.

The Swiss manager coached the team last season and led them to win the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup, the club’s first continental title since 2003.

Zamalek offered the job to the Swiss manager but he rejected their offer due to health issues according to Filgoal.

In a surprising move, French manager Patrice Carteron paid his release clause, allowing him to leave the White Knights ahead of a proposed move to Saudi Arabia to coach Al Taawoun.

Despite his poor results in the league, Carteron was highly appreciated by the club board as well as the fans after he led the club to win the African Super Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup titles.

Zamalek appointed former club manager Tarek Yehia as caretaker manager but he had a difficult start with the team as they lost 1-0 to Aswan to crown Zamalek’s arch-rivals, Al Ahly, champions.

Zamalek want to sign the new manager as soon as possible to be able to work with the team and be ready for the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
