CAIRO, 01 September 2020: Ivan Rakitic is a Barcelona midfielder a step away from officially joining his former club Sevilla, according to Marca newspaper.
The Spanish newspaper reported that the Croatian international has passed a medical examination for Sevilla and is preparing to sign contracts to join the team again.
Seville will contract with Rakitic for 3 seasons.
The report indicated that the Andalusian club negotiated with Barcelona during the past few hours in order to include Rakitic, who was out of the new coach Ronald Koeman thoughts.
Rakitic will return to Sevilla, the club he left in 2014.
Last April, the Croatian said in his interview with the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo: "I always said it would be a wonderful dream to wear this shirt again. Everyone knows that, but it is not my decision alone, whether I want it or not. There are other factors."
"The sporting director of Sevilla and everyone in the club has my phone number. They haven't called me yet. I love Sevilla and the city, I have family there," the midfielder continued.
Rakitic, 32, was just around the corner from leaving Barcelona last summer.
The former Basel, Schalke and Seville player spent his sixth season in Barcelona and is depositing the club after winning 14 titles.
Rakitic joined Barcelona in the 2014/2015 season from Seville, and after three seasons he spent in the Andalusian team, which he joined in 2011 after 4 seasons in Schalke, Germany.
