CAIRO, 31 August 2020: Wadi Degla player Mohamed Safwat begins his journey in the US Open tennis tournament against Gilles Simon, ranked 54th in the world.
The US Open - one of the "Grand Slam" four tournaments - will take place from August 31 to September 13 in New York City.
The US Open Tennis Championships allows the participation of the 128 ranked players in the world, and Mohamed Safwat will participate in it, after the withdrawal of three players who preceded him in the classification.
Safwat had qualified for the Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo next summer, after crowning the African Games.
The Egyptian player had won his first title in a series of Challenger tennis tournaments in Australia as the biggest achievement in his professional career.
