CAIRO, Aug 20 (MENA) – Egypt's national team advanced to the quarterfinals of the FIBA U17 Skills Challenge 2020.
The young girl’s team finished the group stage in the second position behind leaders Spain.
The Egyptian side defeated Antigua and Barbuda 213-156, and made a 165-145 win over Australia.
Egypt fell 149-155 against Spain.
Egypt is set to play the quarterfinals against Lithuania.
Egypt's young men's team were eliminated from the tournament after finishing fourth in the group stage.
The FIBA U17 Skills Challenge 2020, taking place from August 18-23, features 16 national teams from across the globe competing for top honors.
The teams compete remotely and only know the outcome of the matchup once both teams have completed their challenges and their game has been published.
Each game is performed by five players on each team. The challenge is completed when the fifth player completes his lap.
The team with the lowest score wins the game. The score is derived from the time to complete the challenge (1 second = 1 point) and deducted with points awarded for successfully converting shots or completing passes.
