CAIRO, 18 August 2020: Portuguese Manuel Jose, the former coach of Al-Ahly, believes that the Reds are able to overcome the obstacle of Moroccan Wydad in the semi-finals of the CAF African Champions League.
Jose said: "Playing against the Moroccan teams was never easy for Al-Ahly."
"We were winning, but matches are always difficult," he added in his statements on Al-Ahly channel.
He added, "I see that Al-Ahly as a great team is able to overcome such matches."
Al-Ahly is preparing to face Moroccan Wydad at the end of next September in the Champions League semi-finals.
Jose talked about Al-Ahly's upcoming confrontation against Zamalek, saying: "I played 23 games against Zamalek, we drew 3 times, lost twice and won 18 times, including 6-1."
He continued, saying: "Therefore, I have many memories of facing Zamalek."
"My expectations for the match? The difference in points between the two teams is more than 20 points and therefore Al-Ahly does not need a win to adjust their position in the league."
And he added, "But that kind of matches are usually the most exciting, such as Al-Ahly and Al-Ismaili matches as well, and what is lacking in those matches only is the public presence."
He concluded, "Al-Ahly is the strongest candidate to win over Zamalek."
Al-Ahly and Zamalek summit will start next Saturday in the 21st round of the Egyptian League.
The difference in points between Al-Ahly and Zamalek is 18 points. Al-Ahly has 56 points from 20 games, and Zamalek has 38 points from 19 games.
