CAIRO-14 August 2020: Atletico Madrid manager Diego Someone believes that Leipzig deserved the win over his team in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
The two teams met in Lisbon and the game ended with a 2_1 victory for the German club, who reached the competition's semi-finals for the first time in the history.
"We gave it everything we had. It was difficult for us to win the duels and they were faster." The Argentinean manager said after the game.
The German team opened the score by Daniel Olmo after six minutes from the start of the second half but the substitute João Felix equalised the score from the penalty spot.
Leipzig regained their lead minutes before the final whistle as Tyler Adams hit a late, deflected winner to send the German side into the next round.
Someone added "We haven't been able to play the way we wanted. I liked Leipzig. They had great determination, enthusiasm and freshness. That cost us. There are no excuses."
Leipzig will face PSG on 18 August and they aim to continue their adventure and book a place in the UEFA Champions League final.
