CAIRO-8 August 2020: Ali Darwish, head of the Cairo Stadium Authority, revealed on Saturday that 25k fans can attend the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
The stadium is able to hold one-third of its capacity, which means around 25k fans, to ensure the health and safety of everyone.
"Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we are able to allow fans to the stadium for the CAF Champions League semi-finals," Darwish said.
Football fans across the world are not allowed to attend football matches as part of the preventive measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Darwish added "Fans will be required to sit three seats apart which means the stadium's one-third capacity,"
Al Ahly and Zamalek reached CAF Champions League semi-finals and they will face Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca and Raja Casablanca respectively.
The first leg will be played in Morocco in the last week of September while the second leg will be played a week later in Cairo.
Darwish added "Cairo stadium is ready to host Al Ahly and Zamalek games and we hope that the two teams advance to the final."
