Chelsea's Christian Pulisic after sustaining an injury, Reuters
CAIRO-2 August 2020: Chelsea will not be able to count on Christian Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta when they take on Bayern Munich at the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg in Munich.
The two players picked up injuries during Chelsea's 2_1 loss to Arsenal in FA Cup final and they were forced to leave the pitch.
Pulisic opened the score for the Blues after only five minutes but Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice to grant his team the title.
"They clearly won’t be fit for next week.” Chelsea manager Frank Lampard said after the game.
These injuries further worsen the situation for Chelsea who lost the FA Cup title and will head to Munich, searching for a miracle as they lost the first leg 3_0 at home.
Lampard added "I don’t know the full extent of the injuries, but I know the hamstrings with Azpi and Christian - they have to be scanned and assessed over the next few days."
The manager commented on the team's loss to Arsenal, saying "We didn't play well enough to win a final. A final can never be a stroll and we allowed them back into the game."
