CAIRO_16 July 2020: Arsenal defeated Liverpool 2_1 on Wednesday night at Emirates stadium to put an end to Liverpool's hopes of setting a new Premier League points record.

The Gunners came from behind to secure the victory, which is Arsenal's first victory over Liverpool since 2015 and Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp's first loss to a team from London since his debut as a Liverpool manager in 2015.

Mane opened the score for the visitors after a wonderful cross from Andrew Robertson. Arsenal returned in the game after two errors from Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson Becker which gave Alexandar Lacazette and Reiss Nelson the chance to grant Arsenal the lead.

The Premier League champions failed to break the home team's defense and goalkeeper to suffer their 3rd Loss of the season.

"Until their first goal, it was totally us, we gave them two goals and it is difficult to come back. We got what we deserved. Until then there was nothing wrong, we played very well." Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk said after the game.

The Reds are leading the league table with 93 points, with two games remaining, which means they will not surpass the Manchester City's 100-point mark of 2018.
