CAIRO, 13 July 2020: Mohamed Fadl, a member of the five-year committee in charge of managing the Egyptian Football Association, affirmed Egypt's ability to host the semi-finals and final of the African Champions League.
Cameroon has been excluded from CAF’s options to host the remaining matches of the current edition of the African Champions League, and an Egyptian proposal submitted by Hani Abu Rida, member of CAF Executive Bureau, in coordination with the Egyptian government to host the semi-finals and final of the championship.
Fadl said on ‘Radio Masr’: "Egypt is a big and ready country, and we knew that Cameroon's intention is to apologize for not hosting the remaining matches."
However, "we are definitely ready to host the remaining Champions League matches."
He concluded, "But it must be approved by the political authorities, as well as Dr. Ashraf Subhi, Minister of Youth and Sports."
Two Moroccan Egyptian summits are expected in the semi-finals, in September (exact date has not been determined yet), Al-Ahly vs Wydad, and Zamalek, against Rajaa Casablanca.
The CAF is scheduled to issue its final decision regarding the country hosting the Champions League matches in the coming days.
