CAIRO_4 July 2020: Bayern Munich Spanish midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, is set to leave the German giants with Liverpool being his likely destination.
The Spanish player wants to experience a different competition, according to Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
"We negotiated seriously with him and fulfilled all his wishes. But it seems that he wants to do something new towards the end of his career" Rummenigge said.
Thiago joined Bayern Munich in 2013 from his childhood club Barcelona and since then he was a key player for the Bavarian giants and played a huge part in Bayern's supermacy in the German league.
Rummenigge commented on reports linked Thiago with a move to Liverpool, saying "We definitely didn't have any contact to Liverpool at all. If he wants to do that, we have to deal with it. We don't want to lose any player next year for free. I can say it that clearly."
The Spanish midfielder is out of contract at the Allianz Arena in 2021.
Last week, Bayern Munich clinched their 8th straight German league title and the Bavarian giants aim to secure the double when they face Bayer Leverkusen at the Cup final tonight.
