CAIRO – 25 June 2017: Retired Egyptian footballer Mido says he gave Liverpool’s coaching staff advice about Mohamed Salah years ago.

“I asked Liverpool board to sign Salah three years ago, but they realized the importance of signing him now,” Ahmed Hossam Hussein Abdelhamid, known to fans as Mido, told Egypt Today.

The 34-year-old Mido added, “Liverpool reached certainty that Salah will be their way to return to the top level in England after his amazing performance during his career in Italy with Florentine and Roma.”

Mido, coach of Egyptian team Wadi Degla, also talked about his “joy” at seeing three Egyptian players in the Premier League.

Asked about his advice to Salah, Mido said, “Salah should work hard with Liverpool to return the club glory again because Liverpool fans put great expectations on him.”

Salah joined Liverpool with the highest transfer fee in the history of the club for €44 million ($49 million). Mido was a former Egyptian footballer who played in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspurs, Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic and Westham.
