CAIRO – 25 June 2017: The Supreme Administrative Court decided on Saturday to postpone the appeal filed by lawyer Mohamed Osman to cancel the hold on the funds of Mohamed Abutrika, former player of Al-Ahly Club and the Egyptian national team, to August 27.

On May 8, 2015, Abutrika’s assets were frozen after a government committee announced the confiscation of properties belonging to the tourism company Asshab Tours, in which the former player has shares. The committee announced afterwards that all of the player’s bank accounts were also frozen.

The accusations against Abutrika included funding the procurement of arms and militarily training for terrorists to conduct terror operations against the army and the police, promoting false news on Egypt’s economy, using the confiscated companies to monopolize goods harming the national economy, collecting foreign currencies from markets and smuggling the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group’s money outside the country through its exchange companies.
