CAIRO – 23 June 2017: Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Junior, Shanghai SIPG’s player, received an eight match ban along with a fine from the Chinese Football Association on June 22.
According to Sky Sports, The Chinese Football Association gave Oscar an eight match ban and 40,000 yuan ($ 5,849) fine for starting a brawl.
Oscar kicked the ball directly at two players from the opposing team, Guangzhou R&F during a Chinese Super League match.
As a result, players from both teams clashed on the pitch, resulting in Tixiang Li of Guanghzhou and Huan Fu of Shanghai being sent off, Goal reported. Oscar however was not given a red card.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
This is not the first time that a player has received an eight match ban. According to the Guardian, Luis Suarez received an eight match ban on December 11, 2011 after being accused of using racial slurs against Manchester United’s Patrice Evra.
