File- Ibrahim Said and Wael Gomaa during 2001 CAF Champions League Final against Sundowns
CAIRO_9 May 2020: Two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner, Ibrahim Said, revealed to Filgoal that former Egypt national team captain, Wael Gomaa, is the best defender he played with during his career.
"Wael Gomaa is the best defender I played with, we understand each other on the pitch." Said told Filgoal.
The duo formed a solid defensive line at Al Ahly between 2001 and 2004 until Said decided to leave the Red Devils to join arch-rivals Zamalek.
During his time at Al Ahly, Said led the Red devils towards achieving the CAF Champions League title in 2001.
The two defenders reunited in 2006 and 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, during which Egypt achieved back-to-back AFCON titles.
Asked about the best manager he has worked with, Said said "I was lucky to work with Manual José in Al Ahly and Theo Bücker in Zamalek."
Said is one of few players who represented the biggest three clubs in Egypt, Al Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaily.
