U19 basketball team returns from Spain

CAIRO – 22 June 2017: The Egyptian National Men’s under 19 years of age (U19) Basketball team returns from Spain Egypt on Thursday after the end of a training camp and friendly tournament in preparation for the FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup.

The World Cup will be held in the Indoor Halls Complex of the Cairo International Stadium from July 1 to July 9, where 16 teams will participate in the tournament divided into four groups.

After completing a friendly tournament, with a defeat by the Spanish team on June 20, the Egyptian team returns to daily training with only 24 hours rest for the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.

The national team will play their last friendly match against Argentina on June 28 after which the Spanish coach Juan Antonio Orenga will choose 12 of the 14 players who participated in the Spain tournament to compete at the upcoming World Cup, according to Super Kora.

The youth team is in the second group of the U19 World Cup with Germany, Puerto Rico and Lithuania.
