CAIRO – 22 June 2017: Mexican Football Federation (FMF) asked their fans this Wednesday to stop their chant they use against opposed goalkeepers because FIFA considers this chant homophobic, according to Reuters.

FMF said in the statement "As you know, FIFA is very serious about the chanting that we do when the goalkeeper takes a kick, and the possible sanctions are serious," also Eurosport shared the news.

FIFA warned Mexico after the first match for the misconduct of a small group of Mexican fans in relation to insulting and discriminatory chants.

FMF warned their fans of their behavior saying "Our efforts on the pitch will come to nothing if, because of this (behavior), we lose the match, the game is suspended or you are expelled from the stadium. We lose, you lose, everyone loses,” Reuters added.

This chant was heard in Mexico first match in the competition against Portugal goalkeeper Rui Patricio.
Mexico plays New Zealand in the second match in the group after 2-2 draw against Portugal in their opening game in the tournament.
