CAIRO_24 April 2020: Former Chelsea captain, John Terry, revealed that he and his teammates at Chelsea were not happy with the board's decision to sack José Mourinho in 2007.

"He came in and said: ‘That’s it, I’ve been sacked.’ He went around and gave everyone a hug and a cuddle." Terry recalled the day the players knew Mourinho was no longer their manager.

Mourinho took the Premier League by storm when he signed for Chelsea after winning the UEFA Champions League title with Porto in 2004.

Terry added "Full-grown men crying their eyes out. We were thinking: ‘Where do we go from here?’ We had someone like a father figure, guiding us."

The Portuguese manager achieved a quick success with the blues, having led the club to win two back-to-back premier league titles.

Terry continued "We actually spoke to the board and said: ‘Listen, we want him to stay, can we not bring him back? It’s a rash decision, he’s the best we’ve worked with. Unfortunately, they’d made their decision."

Mourinho reunited with Terry in 2014 summer when he was appointed as the club manager and led them to win the league title in his first year.

Two years later, Mourinho was sacked due to poor results and he is now the manager of Chelsea arch rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
