Carteron denies Esperance’s interest

CAIRO-17 April 2020: Patrice Carteron, Zamalek’s manager, denied having any talks with Tunisian club Esperance Sportive over a potential move to coach the Tunisian side.

Carteron told sports website Yallakora in an interview that the recent circulations that appeared lately aren’t true.

Moreover, Carteron added that he is currently focused on coaching Zamalek and that he didn’t hold any talks with the representatives of Esperance, according to Yallakora.

It is important to note that Carteron’s contract with Zamalek ends on June 30th, and it has been reported that the club still didn’t hold any renewal talks with the manager.

The 49-year-old [Carteron] managed to win with Zamalek the CAF Super Cup after defeating Esperance, reigning CAF Champions League champions, 3-1.

Additionally, Carteron led Zamalek in knocking out Esperance after defeating them on aggregate 3-2 in this year's CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

The Frenchman [Carteron] is considered to be one of Africa’s elite managers especially having won the CAF Champions League while coaching Mazembe along with winning the CAF Super Cup twice with Raja Casablanca and Zamalek.
