Liverpool’s veteran player Jamie Carragher selected on Tuesday the toughest eleven players that he faced throughout his career with Liverpool and England’s national team.
The 42-year-old [Carragher] expressed how fortunate he was to play against the world’s best players during his time at Liverpool, according to Sky Sports.
As a result, Carragher chose a 4-3-3 formation in his interview with Sky Sports to include all the following players in his best opposition lineup that he ever faced:
“Goalkeeper: Gianluggi Buffon
Defenders:Morcas Morais [Cafu], Marcel Desailly, John Terry, Paolo Maldini
Midfielders: Roy Keane, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta
Strikers: Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo
Additionally, Carragher revealed that Arsenal’s invincibles team is considered to him to be the toughest overall team that he ever faced in his career.
“The problem with that Arsenal team was that when you got in the tunnel with them, everyone was six foot two and had shoulders out here. You look at the physical battle and you couldn't knock them out of their stride,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
Carragher is considered to be one of the talented defenders of his time. In his career with Liverpool he managed to win the Champions League, two FA Cups and the UEFA Cup along with several other trophies.
Lastly, England’s legendary defender managed to represent England in the 2006 World Cup having a total of 38 appearances with England’s national team.
