CAIRO – 21 June 2017: Egyptian Football Association (EFA) officially agreed to increase the number of players permitted to participate in the 2017/18 domestic competitions to 30 players, backing down from its previous decision to only register 25, according to former footballer and EFA’s board member Magdi Abdelghany on Tuesday.

EFA has issued a

statement

on its official Facebook page on Sunday, saying that it had reduced the local players’ quota to 25 players for the upcoming season, confirming their freedom of movements.

Abdelghany added further that the decision came following a meeting held on Tuesday involving EFA representatives and Egyptian Premier League clubs chairmen, who were consistently demanding an increase in the local players’ quota per season.

On its Sunday statement, EFA elucidated that each Egyptian's league side has the right to include a maximum of three foreign players, not including goalkeepers.
