CAIRO _ 4 April 2020: FIFA decided to extend the age limit of participation at the Olympics from 23 to 24 following the postponement of Tokyo Olympic Games from 2020 summer to 2021 amid the spread of coronavirus.

The football men's tournament at Olympic Games is typically restricted to under-23 players with three overaged players.

FIFA's decision allows players born after January 1997 to take part in Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021.

This is good news for many regular players at Egypt U-23 national team including Mostafa Mohamed, Akram Tawfik, Nasser Maher and Ramadan Sobhi.

Egypt secured their spot at Tokyo Olympic Games after winning U-23 AFCON title at home in November 2019.

Olympic Games in Tokyo will see the 12th appearance for the Egyptian football at the competition and the Pharaohs aim to secure a medal at the competition for the first time in the history.
