CAIRO – 20 June 2017: Al-Ahly SC coach Hossam el-Badry denounced the attendance of the Qatari-owned beIN Sports reporters among the media covering a press conference before Al-Ahly and Wydad match in Morocco on Monday.
Al-Badry refused to begin the press conference until the beIN Sports representative left the conference hall.
Cairo giants Al-Ahly and Zamalek announced a boycott of beIN on Monday, banning the Qatari channel from broadcasting matches.
The decision comes two weeks after the Egyptian government severed diplomatic ties with Qatar over its support for terrorism, along with a number of Arab Gulf countries.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has also confirmed it will ban beIN Sports reporters from covering EFA events.
Al-Ahly is scheduled to face Morocco's Wydad in the fourth round of the group stage in the CAF African Champions League scheduled for Tuesday after midnight, at 1 a.m.
BeIN Sports still holds the exclusive rights to broadcast the CAF African Champions League matches.
