CAIRO-29 February 2020: Al Ahly SC host South African giants,Mamelodi Sundowns, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter finals on Saturday night at Cairo Stadium.
The Egyptian Giants [Al Ahly] seek revenge from South African champions Sundowns following their 5-1 loss on aggregate last year in the CAF Champions league quarter finals.
Speaking of the loss, Al Ahly’s manager Rene Weiler said, “I do not want to talk about the past. We are fully prepared for the game and we are expecting a tough tie against one of the best teams in the continent.”
Al Ahly will enter the match without Ramadan Sobhi, one of Al Ahly’s key players, due to not being fully recovered from a muscular injury which he suffered from earlier last month.
Also, the following Al Ahly players: Hossam Ashour, Mahmoud Kahraba, and Mahmoud Wahid were excluded by Weiler from Al Ahly’s squad due to technical reasons.
It is important to mention that the second leg of the quarter finals will be held next Saturday at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Al Ahly have won a record 8 CAF Champions League titles but they failed to clinch the title since 2013 when they defeated South Africa's Orlando Pirates at the final.
