Egyptian Super Cup Preview: The Battle of Managers

Egyptian Premier League title holders Al Ahly is set to meet 2018/2019 Egyptian Cup Winners Zamalek in the Egyptian Super Cup today at Mohamed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Both teams enter the game in a great situation with Zamalek winning the African Super Cup and Al Ahly being first of the Egyptian League table with 13 points clear at the top of the League.

Al Ahly’s Swiss manager Rene Weiler will enter the game looking to add his second consecutive Egyptian Super Cup.

The Swiss manager achieved his first Egyptian Super Cup with a 3-2 victory against Zamalek SC at Borg Al Arab Stadium.

While Zamalek’s French manager Patrice Carteron, will look to add his second cup with Zamalek in the span of one week after his 3-1 victory in the African Super Super Cup against Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

Additionally, Carteron will face Al Ahly today looking for revenge especially after being sacked by the Red Devils [Al Ahly] a few years ago.

It’s important to mention that only four teams: Al Ahly [11], Zamalek [3], Haras El Hodoud [1], Arab Contractors [1] have managed to win the Egyptian Super Cup ever since it was established in 2001.
