CAIRO – 19 June 2017: Florentino Perez will continue as president of Real Madrid until the next presidential elections after no other candidates chose to run for the presidential elections for the club this year.
The deadline in order to apply for the presidential elections was Sunday night. No one applied other than Perez.
According to Marca, this is the third consecutive time where Perez wins the elections without facing any competition.
Perez became Real Madrid’s president for the first time in 2000 and stepped down in 2006 before coming back to Real Madrid in 2009. He has stayed with the club since then.
Under the reign of Perez, Madrid was able to win the Champions League three times in the past four seasons. However, this does not mean Perez would not want to add more trophies to Madrid’s cabinet.
