The mission was completed, and Egypt's representatives: Al-Ahly and Zamalek qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly finished second in the second group with 11 points. Zamalek also ranked second in the first group with 9 points.
The draw takes place on February 5 in Cairo, and is governed by 4 basic rules:
- The four leaders face second-placed teams.
- Two teams from the same country may face each other.
- A team cannot play against the leader of their group.
- The second leg will be played in the leader home.
Consequently, in the quarter-finals, we may see a Tunisian-Tunisian confrontation between Esperance and ES Etoile, and it was confirmed that Al-Ahly and Zamalek will not face, and they will play again outside their stadiums.
The teams Al-Ahly can face:
1- South Africa's SunDowns
2- Congolese Mazembe
3- Tunisian Esperance
The teams that Zamalek can face:
1- ES Etoile
2- South Africa's SunDowns
3- Tunisian Esperance
The draw will determine the path of each team until the final match, as no separate draw will be held before the semi-finals.
The quarter-final matches are played on February 28th and 29th. The return matches will be played on March 6 and 7.
