CAIRO – 18 June 2017: It was a big day for the blue side of Liverpool; Everton announced on Thursday the signing of Jordan Pickford from Sunderland and Davy Klaassen from Ajax Amsterdam.
Everton signed Sutherland goalkeeper, Pickford, for € 28.6 million in a 5 year deal, making Pickford the first Everton signing of the season.
Pickford, 23, said after the signing, “It’s a great club, a massive club and I think it’s a great opportunity and the right time for me to come to Everton and show what I can do,” according to Everton official website.
Everton also announced late Thursday the signing of 24 year old Dutch midfielder Klaassen from Ajax for € 30.9 million.
Ronald Koeman, Everton’s manager said “I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring Davy to Everton. He’s a player who is only 24, but has a lot of experience and is a leader on the pitch. He has already captained Ajax for two seasons and that shows you the type of person he is,” in a report on Everton’s official website.
Koeman added, “Jordan is a very talented young professional who also has a real hunger for success, and that's important for us as we now look to make further progress in the seasons ahead.”
