CAIRO – 10 January 2020: Atletico Madrid captain, Koke, picked up an injury during his team’s 3-2 victory over Barcelona at the Spanish Super Cup semi-final and the Spanish international will not be fit for the all-Madrid Super Cup final.
Koke, who took part in the game at the second half, opened the score for his team minutes after half time but he was forced to leave the pitch after suffering from an injury to be replaced by Marcos Llorente.
Atletico Madrid achieved a stunning comeback to defeat the Catalan club and secure a spot at the final against their bitter rivals, Real Madrid.
Koke opened the score for the Los Rojiblancos but Barcelona’s Lionel Messi needed just five minutes to equalize the score.
VAR saved Atletico as the referee disallowed two goals for Barcelona through Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique which could finish the game.
Despite the VAR decisions. Barcelona scored the second goal through Antoine Griezmann who scored against his former club after he followed a wonderful header from Luis Suarez.
The fans at King Abdullah Sport City Stadium expected the Catalans to dominate the game after the second goal but Los Rojiblancos made a memorable comeback.
Ángel Correa was the hero for his team as he won a penalty for his team which was successfully converted by Alvaro Morata to make the score 2-2 then five minutes later Correa added the third goal for his team to make the score 3-2 and grant his team a ticket to the final.
