CAIRO – 10 January 2020: Zamalek winger, Mostafa Fathy, played a great role in his team’s campaign to win CAF Confederation Cup title last season and he aims to claim another piece of silverware this season at CAF Champions League.
“Champions League is tougher than Confederation Cup but our goal is to win the Champions League title this season.” Fathy said ahead of his team’s clash against Zambian giants, ZESCO United.
Zamalek plays in Group A alongside ZESCO United, Congo’s TP Mazembe and Primeiro de Agosto of Angola.
Zamalek comes second at the group with four points from a victory over the Angolan giants and a draw with ZESCO in Zambia. The White Knights’ only loss was at the opening round of the group against the group leaders, Mazembe.
Fathy added “It is a very important game and we have to win. The Zambian team will try to achieve a positive result after they lost two points against us at home.”
Zamalek are one of the biggest clubs in the continent and they won the Champions League title five times but they failed to win the title since their memorable victory in 2002.
