Tarek Hamed, Zamalek's midfielder, is preparing to travel to Hurghada on Tuesday morning to attend the 2019 Best of Africa Gala.
The heart of the lion, as he likes to be called by Zamalek's fans, competes with Youssef El Baili, the star of the Algerian national team, currently in Al-Ahly in Jeddah and the former Esperance, and Anis Al-Badri, star of Esperance of Tunisia, for the award of Best player inside Africa.
Tarek Hamed obtained permission from the Zamalek and the coaching staff to be in Hurghada on Tuesday to attend the Best in Africa event.
The 2019 Best Player in Africa event takes place in Sahl Hasheesh, Hurghada, on Tuesday evening.
Zamalek fans launched a hashtag (#Tarek_Hamed_King_of_Africa) to support Tarek Hamed.
Tarek Hamed is the only player from the Egyptian league that continued for the final stage, after the initial list included his teammates Mahmoud Alaa, Tunisian Ferjani Sassi, and Al-Al Ahly player Ali Maaloul.
This is the second nomination for Hamed, who was nominated for the first list of the best African player in 2017.
Hamed led Zamalek to win a continental title that has been absent from the club's treasures since 2003, and he ran for the prize created this year, just as his former coach, Swiss Christian Gross, the current coach of the Saudi Al-Ahly Jeddah club.
