Egypt crowned World Champs - FILE
The Egyptian Squash National team for men, crowned the world championship in the tournament hosted by Washington in the United States of America after the Pharaohs defeated the English team 2/0 in the final match.
Egypt, led by Amir Wageeh coach of the Pharaohs, represented in this match by the duo Karim Abdel Gawad, player of Al-Ahly Club, and ranked third in the World rankings, Ali Farag player of Wadi Degla, and ranked first.
Karim Abdel Gawad defeated his competitor Declan James 3/2 in 107 minutes, and the results of the games were as follows: 9-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-9, 12-10.
Ali Farag beat Adrian Waller 3-1 in 57 minutes, and the results of the games were as follows: 11-6, 11-6, 12-14, 11-4.
With this victory, the defending champion Egypt kept the championship for the second time in a row, just as the national team equaled the historical number of the England team by winning the championship in five editions, which came in 1999, 2009, 2011, 2017, and finally 2019.
The Pharaohs' team in this edition included Ali Farag, Karim Abdel Gawad, Tarek Moamen and Mohamed Abu Al Ghar.
Assem Khalifa, President of the Egyptian Squash Federation, headed the Pharaoh's delegation in the United States of America. The delegation is accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Wafai, a physiotherapist, and Ahmed Mohsen, member of the Board of Directors.
