Referee gave red card for Ayman Ashraf - File
Al Ahli's board of directors, headed by Mahmoud Al Khatib, has decided to file an urgent complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after ES Sportive match.
Etoile du Sahel defeated Al Ahly 1-0 in the first round of Group B of the African Champions League group stage
The match witnessed a Red card for Ayman Ashraf in the 13th minute, along with wholesale objections from Al Ahly players and the coaching staff.
Al-Ahly issued an official statement announcing the board's decision to "make an urgent complaint to the African Union because of the referee injustice suffered by the team in the Champions League in recent years."
Al-Ahly pointed out, "The referee made many mistakes that blew up all the rules of justice and affected the outcome of the game directly," according to the statement.
Al-Ahly president Mahmoud Al-Khatib instructed the concerned departments to prepare all documents that reveal "clear and unacceptable referee's errors in the last game."
Al-Ahly fell to the trap of defeat for the first time to become the last place in their group after the victory of Al-Hilal of Sudan against Platinum Zimbabwe.
Al Ahly will play the second round at home and on Friday against Sudan's Al Hilal.
While Etoile du Sahel leaves to face Platinum.
