Argentina captain Lionel Messi thanked Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Entertainment, and owner of the Spanish club Almeria.
Messi led Argentina to a 1-0 friendly win over Brazil in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Friday in his first appearance with tango dancers after his international suspension ended.
Messi released a video on Saturday, captured in the moments before entering the stadium while shaking hands with Al-Sheikh, and attached a message of thanks.
"I am happy to be back in Riyadh and I look forward to returning again. Thank you Turki Al-Sheikh and the Riyadh season for the great evening."
Al-Sheikh had received Messi on Thursday evening, and appeared with him in a video posted on his Facebook page
Al-Sheikh then sent a message to Messi: "First of all happy to see you here and to be in Saudi Arabia, and I hope to meet you next year in La Liga between Barcelona and Almeria."
"I hope to sign you to play for Almeria after five years when your price becomes cheaper," he joked.
