Egypt national team manager, Shawky Gharib, revealed that his team did not achieved their goal despite the team’s strong start at 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations.

“We won nothing yet, and the semifinal on Tuesday is the most important game in this generation’s history.” Egypt U-23 team manager, Shawky Gharib, said.

The team defeated Cameroon 2-1 on Thursday night thanks to two goals from the tournament’s goal scorer Mostafa Mohamed to finish the group stage with 9 points from three straight wins to secure the top of the group.

Gharib added “I’m extremely happy with my boys, and proud with the great support we had today.”

The Egyptian team’s performance encouraged the fans to go to the stadium and support the team from the stands after a poor attendance at the opening game against Ghana.

Egypt, Group A leaders, will face the runner-up of Group B on Tuesday at Cairo International Stadium.

On the other hand, Ghana secured a semi-final spot as they defeated Mali 2-0 to equal Cameroon’s four points but Ghana have the tiebreak edge thanks to the superior goal difference.
