CAIRO – 7 November 2019: Egypt U-23 national team winger, Salah Mohsen, believes that his team is ready to challenge for the title of Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, taking place in Egypt between 8 and 23 November 2019.
“We are very focused and we hope to be lucky at the competition.” Mohsen told press one day prior to the start of the tournament.
Egypt national team was drawn in Group A alongside Mali, Cameroon and Ghana in Group A and they will face Mali on Friday 8 November at the opening game of the tournament.
Mohsen added “We will start the competition with no fear and we aim to win the title for the first time in the history.”
Egyptian fans are expected to pack the stands of the biggest stadium in the capital to support their players who are dreaming of securing one of the three tickets to 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Egypt football appeared at the Olympic games 11 times before and their best achievement was achieving the fourth place in 1928 in Amsterdam and 1964 in Tokyo.
Egypt’s last participation at the tournament was in 2012 in London and the national team was eliminated from the competitions at the quarter finals after losing to Japan.
