CAIRO – 31 October 2019: Libyan club, AlHilal, appointed Hossamedin Bedier the club’s first sports director to lead the club’s plans to regain its lost glory and reestablish the club as one of the best in the country.
“AlHilal is one of the oldest clubs in Libya with a huge history but the club suffered difficult circumstances during the last decade as the whole football industry in the country.” Bedier told Egypt Today.
Bedier, a FIFA/CIES Official Certified Sports Manager, has been one of the talented young Egyptians who played a massive role in the impressive organization of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. Bedier’s successful work and passion for sports took him west where he will work inside one of the biggest clubs in the city of Benghazi.
AlHilal, established in 1952, has a huge fan base in the East of Libya and the local fans believe that their club is more than a sports club as AlHilal has a vital role in the revival of Benghazi.
AlHilal football team is participating at the Libyan Top Division and they have reached the Cup Final twice in a row in 2017 and 2018.
However, the club is not only about football as the club is well-known in the country for producing Libyan champions in different sports beside the club’s massive successes in football.
Bedier and his team are working on a new identity for the club, including the club official store, kits, website and a mascot to be the landmark of AlHilal.
Bedier, who studied Urban Planning and Sustainable Development at Cairo University, is also keen to inaugurate ‘AlHilal Foundation For Community Service and Sustainable Development’.
Bedier added “AlHilal is not just about sport. We are focusing on connecting with the people of Benghazi and the development of the city through sports equally with the improving of the club’s teams in different sports.”
