Olympic coach Shawki Gharib refused to play friendly matches before the start of the African Nations Championship on November 8 and qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
There were negotiations between the EFA and the Zambian team for a friendly match in Cairo before the start of the tournament, but they stumbled due to the arrival of the Zambian team to Cairo, where the delegation will arrive from Spain on November 4, four days before the tournament, so Shawki Gharib refused to play.
Ghareeb decided to play two matches against South Africa.
The Egyptian Football Federation (EFA) announced the stadiums for the African Nations Under-23 Championship matches hosted by Egypt.
Egypt will host the African Nations Under-23 Championship qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games from November 8 to 22.
The U-23 African Cup of Nations in the current version includes the strongest teams of the continent divided into two groups, where our national team is located in Group A, and starts against Mali on November 8, then Ghana on 11 and Cameroon on 14 and Cairo Stadium will host the group matches, while El Salam Stadium will host Group B matches which includes Nigeria, Zambia, Cote d'Ivoire and South Africa.
Shawki Ghareeb chose 27 players to be present in the camp:
Goalkeepers: Omar Radwan, Omar Salah, Mohamed Sobhy, Mustafa Shober,
Defenders: Osama Galal, Mahmoud Mareay, Mahmoud Al-Gazzar, Ahmed Ramadan (Beckham), Mohamed Abdelsalam, Mohamed Sadek, Ahmed Aboulfotouh. Ahmed Ayman and Karim Iraqi.
Midfielders: Akram Tawfiq, Ghanam Mohammed, Ammar Hamdi, Nasser Maher, Ahmed Hamdi
Attackers: Ramadan Sobhi, Taher Mohamed Taher, Imam Ashour, Abdul Rahman Magdi, Mostafa Mohamed, Salah Mohsen, Ahmed Yasser Rayan and Nasser Mansi.
Tickets for the tournament will be booked through Tazkarti company headed by Mr. Montasser Al Nabarawy.
