Griezmann extends contract with Atletico Madrid until 2022

CAIRO – 14 June 2017: Atletico Madrid has reached an agreement with French forward Antoine Griezmann, extending his contract with the club until June 30, 2022, the club’s official website reported Tuesday.

While Griezmann was strongly linked to a transfer to Manchester United during the current transfer window, he ended all gossip by extending his contract. The French striker from Macon expressed his happiness about the signing , saying, "The first thing that I want to do is apologize to the people who misunderstood my statements. Maybe I expressed myself badly or someone wanted to make news where there weren’t any, but since I came, I have given my all for my club, my teammates and my coaching staff, and I’m very happy to live one more season with all of you,” according to Atletico de Madrid’s official website.

The 26-year-old forward joined Ateltico on June 28, 2014 and has played strong since, including his 53 appearances this season with 26 goals scored and 12 assists.
