CAIRO – 12 October 2019: Real Madrid and Spanish national team captain, Sergio Ramos, is expected to become the player with the most appearances for the Spanish national team when Spain face Norway on Saturday night at the 2020 UEFA EURO Qualifiers.

Ramos shares the record with his former teammate, Iker Casillas, with 167 caps each.

Ramos comes eighth in the list of players with most International appearances in the history and he is only 16 games behind Egyptian former captain, Ahmed Hassan, who represented the Egyptian national team in 184 games.

Ramos became a key defender at La Roja since 2005 when he represented Spain for the first time against China in a friendly game, ended with a 3-0 win for the European side.

One year later, he was named at the squad participating at 2006 World Cup in Germany where Spain were knocked out of the tournament from the round of 16 against France.

This elimination from the big competitions was Ramos’ last one with Spain till 2014 as the Spanish team dominated the game and won two consecutive European titles as well as their most prestigious title, 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
