CAIRO – 5 October 2019: Egypt national team captain, Ahmed Salah, revealed on Saturday that they have to learn from their mistakes against Canada which cost the Egyptians their second loss at the volleyball World Cup 2019, stating that he is proud of his team.

“I’m proud of my team and think we have to continue competing and playing well like we are doing now. In the future I think we will be better.” Salah said after the game.

Egypt lost the game 3-2 despite the Egyptians’ brave fight to return in the game after losing the first two sets with the same result 27-25.

The Egyptian team bounced back to win the third and the fourth sets 25-16 and 25-22 respectively but the Canadian team fought hard and won the third set 15-9 to achieve their first victory at the competition.

Egypt coach Gido Vermeulen praised his team’s performance after the game, saying“We did well and the first two sets were really close, but I have a lot of respect for my team, how we fought back. I think we played some beautiful volleyball, and my opinion is that if we can control our emotions a little bit more we can win this game.”

Egypt will face Russia on Sunday at the fourth game of the competition.
