CAIRO 16 September 2019: Al Ahly's technical staff led by Swiss coach René Weiler began preparations for the Zamalek clash scheduled on Friday, hours after the victory over Equatorial Guinea champion Kano Sport on Saturday evening.
Al Ahly defeated Equatorial Guinea champions Cano Sport 2-0 on Saturday in the first leg of the 32nd round of the African Champions League.
Weiler was delighted to win in his first match with Al Ahly, stressing that the team has enough time to prepare for Zamalek in the domestic Super Cup match scheduled for September 20.
EFA decided that the game will be held officially on September 20, in the presence of both teams’ 5k fans at Borg El Arab stadium.
Al Ahly’s delegation arrived to Cairo in the early hours of Monday. The Swiss coach tried to collect information about Zamalek during the presence of Al Ahly’s delegation in Guinea and before the start of the return trip to Cairo.
The club sacked their former manager, Martin Lasarte, after the team elimination from the Egyptian Cup, having lost to Pyramids at the round of 16.
Weiler is one of the promising managers in Europe and the highlight of his career was managing Belgian giants, Anderlecht, for one year.
