Egypt's delegation in Rabat-held African Games
CAIRO – 30 August 2019: Egypt's delegation in Rabat-held African Games has broken the records regarding the number of the medals obtain, as they won a total of 229 medals, including 79 gold, 87 silver and 59 bronze.
This number considers to be a first for Egypt, as during 2015’s round held in Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt obtained 217 medals.
The Egyptian delegation participated in the opening ceremony of the African Games held in the Moroccan city of Rabat until 31 August.
The opening ceremony was held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat amid the presence of sports ministers and heads of Olympic committees of the 54 participating African countries.
Hisham Hatab, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and Eng. Sherif El-Erian, Secretary General of the Olympic Committee, were present at the opening ceremony.
Eng. Basil Abdullah, a member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee headed of the Egyptian delegation in the opening ceremony, Yahya Dabes, a member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee and Vice-President of the delegation, and Dr. Abdulaziz Ghoneim, a member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee.
The Egyptian flag was raised at the opening ceremony by Mostafa El Gamal and Dina Musharraf.
